When we adopted Wayne, a 1 year old Formosan Mountain Dog from Taiwan, he was extremely fearful and undersocialized, having been a stray dog without human contact for the first 4 months of his life. We ran into trouble right away - while he was bonding hard and fast with me and my husband, he rejected everyone else, including, and most severely, our teenage daughter who had expected to be his best friend. Hannah came to our house and helped us understand the nuances of Wayne's behavior and language, and identify the roots of his fears and triggers. She worked with us on a detailed plan to have strategies to avoid triggers and to positively reinforce good behavior. We followed these strategies and were able to reverse the downward spiral we were on. Fast forward 6 months, and Wayne has improved so much! He is happy, quite confident and very manageable in our day to day life, and still getting better every day! Most importantly, he is on a great trajectory of warming up to our daughter and other friends, able to relax around them and even engage in play! We highly recommend Underdog Academy!!
